About TJ Maxx
TJ Maxx roots go back more than 40 or more years. In 1976, Bernard (Ben) Cammarata, General Merchandising Manager of Marshalls at the time, was enlisted by markdown retailer, Zayre Corp.,1 to create and lead the dispatch of another off-value chain selling family attire and home styles. Under Mr. Cammarata's authority, T.J. Maxx was conceived, with its first stores opening in 1977.
In the late 1980s, Zayre was rebuilt and spun off three of its brands — T.J. Maxx, Hit or Miss, and Chadwick's of Boston — which filled in as the underlying retail flags of what might turn into The TJX Companies, Inc.
TJX has kept on becoming consistently throughout the years, opening stores in new markets, nations, and mainlands, propelling new chains, and procuring different retailers, to bring its prominent off-value model to an even more extensive system of clients who love their varied blend of value, stylish, brand name clothing and home molds, all at stunning worth.
After about 40 years of administration to the Company, Mr. Cammarata resigned from his situation as Chairman of the Board in June 2015 and stays with TJX in a warning job as Founder and Executive Advisor.
