Founded in 1917 as a traffic junction newspaper kiosk in Florence, Alabama, Books-A-Million, Inc. has evolved into the chief book retailing chain and the country's second largest book retailer in the Southeastern United States. The organization, based in Birmingham, Alabama, currently operates in 32 states and more than 260 stores in the Columbia Region.
